The Evolution of The Rock Patch

The origins of the first Rock Patch can be traced back to March1945. Its creator T.M. McNeil painted the design on his duffel bag while recovering from malaria in a hospital on located in  Mindoro, Philippines. Over the next several months, other individuals were inspired by McNeal's design and developed similiar patches.  On August 24, 1945 McNeil was officially recognized for his design.   Earnest  C. Clark,  Executive Officer of the 503 RCT wrote "The interest shown by you in originating and submitting such an excellent suggestion reflects most admirably upon your espirit de corps and pride in your unit.
